The Cadet Program

The Cadet Program is youth program jointly sponsored by the Deparment of National Defense (DND) and the Air Cadet League of Canada (ACL). The program offers youths aged between the ages of 12 to 18 the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun, challenging and rewarding activities while learning about the different elements of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Mission of the Cadet Program
  • To contribute to the development and preparation of youth for the transistion to adulthood, enabling them to meet the challengers of modern society, throught a dynamic, community-based program
Aim of the Air Cadet Program
  • To develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership
  • To promote physical fitness
  • To stimulate the interest of youth in the air element of the Canadian Forces

General information

The 888 Avenger Squadron meets on Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 9:30pm at Walter Moberly School (1000 East 59th Street) in Vancouver, BC during the school year. Air cadets is a youth organization open to both male and female youth from 12 to 18 years of age.

The cadet program focusses on social development, decision-making, time management skills, and leadership. Some of the additional activities that 888 Squadron offers are centered around include: aviation, range, drill team, survival training, public speaking, first aid, citizenship, and the marching band.
